John Grant Gets Gus Gus
John Grant, the American singer-songwriter, whose debut album Queen of Denmark was named Mojo album of the year in 2010, has told 6 Music that he will be releasing the follow up this autumn.
This time Grant has travelled to Bjork territory and has unintentionally secured the services of one of Iceland’s biggest electronic exports, Gus Gus.
Much like the first, he will also be working with Texan folk-rockers Midlake who assisted in delivering one of the most satisfying albums of recent times.
“The plan was to go to Texas and work with a couple of the Midlake boys as my rhythm section again, things changed as I kind of fell in love with Iceland when I was there for the Iceland Airwaves Festival.
“When I was there for the first time I had a chance to meet Biggi Veira.”
Grant claims they “really clicked” and managed to record 5 songs in total during those sessions.
